Biligiriranga Hill- Complete Guide To Explore Biligiriranga Hill, Karnataka

Biligiriranga Hills, located in Chamarajanagar district in the south Indian state of Karnataka. The place shared the border with the neighbouring state Tamilnadu. This is also called as BR Hills or BR Swamy temple wildlife sanctuary. The BR hills have linked with Eastern and western ghats, covered with an area of about 540 square kilometres at an elevation of 1200 metres above the sea level. Yearly thousands of visitors explore the place and the site declared as Tiger reserve to preserve the Tigers.  A wildlife sanctuary is other attraction here. The destination has filled with rare species of Flora and Fauna and a freshwater pond, coffee estates.

Climate Conditions:

Biligiriranga Hill Station has received occasional climate. Summer session starts from March and continues to May. In this months the destination gains warm temperature ranges up to 38 degree Celsius. Visitors enjoy the Wilderness in summer days. Monsoon months from June to September months received occasional showers and not good for tourists. Winter starts from November to February months. Winter days in BR experienced child climate and temperature ranges between 10 to 16 degree Celsius. 

Best Time To Visit:

Biligiriranga Hill has located Chamarajanagar district, tourists can visit the beautiful temples, animals, birds, plants. The best season to explore the destination in Winter season. November, December, January, February and March are the best months to explore BRT Hills.

Tourist Attractions In Biligiranga:

Ranganath Swamy

Biligiriranga, a beautiful place covered with silver clouds filled with the famous temple of Lord Ranganath Swamy, rare varieties of plants, birds, mammals, and coffee estates. The Ranganatha diety at this temple is possibly the only standing form of Ranganatha. Ranganayaki and Alvars also placed here. One more attraction in this temple, an annual car festival is the most celebrating festival held during the month of April.

A tree called Doddasampige believed to be several hundred years old provides shelter to several Shiva lingams. The tree located on the banks of river Bhargavi. Mahashiarathri is the most celebrating festival, attracts thousands of pilgrims and performed pooja. The BR wildlife sanctuary has Tigers, mammals like elephants, more than 250 varieties of birds, leopards, squirrels etc are preserved here. Brown fish owl, Gaur, Sambar stag, Sloth bear pair, Purple-rumped sunbird are the other attractions here.

How To Reach:

Biligiriranga is well connected to all major destinations in Karnataka State. Tourists can reach the place via by air, train or by road.

By Air:

The nearest airport located at Mysore, which is 80 kilometres away from the destination. Weekly flights operated from Bangalore.

By Train:

Chamarajanagar, the nearest railway station from the destination. It is approximately 40 kilometres from the place. Regular trains available from Mysore, Tirupati and etc.

By Road: 

KSRTC and TSRTC provide regular buses operating from Coimbatore to Chamarajanagar. Also, tourists can reach the destination by private vehicles or taxis, available at Mysore.

Accommodation:

Karnataka Tourism corporation offering hill cottages, resorts and food needs at an affordable cost. Private hotels and rooms also available for the tourists at Chamarajanagar.
