Champawat is a town in Champawat district of the Indian state of Uttarakhand. The city has former capital of Kumaon region. It was one of the famous tourist destination and known hill station in the northern part of India. Champawat Hill Station situated at an elevation of 1,615 meters above sea level. Due to it’s cooler climate condition it became a famous tourist destination for tourists visiting Pithoragarh, Almora, and other mountain towns. Krantheswar Mahadev Temple also called Kandev or Kurmapad. Baleswar temple another famous temple located in Champawat. The deity of this temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and built by Chand Dynasty during the 12th century. There are other two temples placed in this temple compound dedicated to Ratneswar and another one is Champawati Durga.
